Chance Encounters

“Chance Encounters” brings together a collection of quietly observed moments which are woven into a loose narrative. The photographs are intimately and sequentially presented, offering a glimpse of how I experience the world around me.

My work draws primarily on natural form. Whether it be dormant winter branches, traces of reflected sunlight on water in small streams, or figurative work, my goal is to present work that is photographic in nature.

I am interested in exploring and expanding on the language of traditional photography even when pursuing experimental imagery. Celebrating what can be seen with a camera that at times may not be viewable to the eye under normal circumstances. In general, my role is to present the photograph as the camera saw it given technical and subjective parameters, without excessive post-production or computer manipulation.

My process is concerned with being open to my experience of the world around me, my perceptions, emotions, and trying to preserve some aspect of it in a photograph. Using the medium to extend my understanding of the world around me. And then say, hey look at this!
